The Mission
To investigate the presence of paranormal phenomena and ghostly hauntings and document the presence of spirits in our everyday life through scientific and photographic evidence.
The History
Formed in 2005, Delaware Ghost Hunters takes a scientific approach to the investigative process. In 2012 Delaware Ghost Hunters became Diamond State Ghost Investigators. DSGI’s primary goal is to help everyone possible, free of charge, with their questions, concerns or fears of spirit activity in their home or business. The research aspect of their work comes second to giving assistance and understanding to those who contact us. One of the few groups that use all the tools available to them in order to provide assistance, DSGI uses the latest scientific equipment, along with well knowledge investigators, to ensure results are as accurate as possible.
DSGI does not endorse the use of practices such as séances and Ouija boards. DSGI attempts to gather scientific oriented information such as Infrared Thermometer fluctuations, Electromagnetic Field Measurements, and other forms of verifiable data.
DSGI are willing to travel anywhere in the Mid-Atlantic region (Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania) as requested. If for some reason we are unable to help you, we will happily hand your case over to another trustworthy Paranormal Investigation team.
The DSGI Team
Gina Dunham – President
After having personal experiences with members of her family who had passed, Gina joined Delaware Ghost Hunters in 2009 as an investigator-in-training, seeking to learn more about the paranormal world and the phenomena which surrounds it. After serving as Vice President of the team, Gina assumed the role of President of DGH in 2013, and has steered the group through a reorganization which included the group’s name change to Diamond State Ghost Investigators. Gina was also one of the organizers and driving forces behind the very successful 2012 Delaware Paranormal Expo, held in Delaware City, DE.
Andy Lendway – Vice President
Like many on the DSGI team, Andy’s personal experiences as a teenager piqued his interest in the paranormal. Like so many of us who have entered the field in recent years, it was after seeing the TV show “Ghost Hunters” that Andy jumped at every chance to join public investigations with Delaware Ghost Hunters in order to gather his own first-hand experiences. Now a member of the DSGI team, one of Andy’s investigative strong points is his attention to detail, honed by his years of training as a professional artist and photographer.
Maureen Lipsett – Treasurer
After meeting the team during the Extended Paranormal Adventure at Fort Delaware in 2009, Maureen applied for membership and has since served as both Secretary and Vice President. Prior to joining the group, she had never had any sort of paranormal experiences, but was always attracted to the scientific aspect of investigating. Maureen always considered herself a skeptic, but in the past few years she has experienced things which she can’t explain logically, which drives her to continue seeking answers to the unexplained.
Kyle Hurst – Secretary
Kyle has always been fascinated by the world of paranormal, and working as an inspector has trained him to carefully analyze situations to determine cause and effect. Although he has yet to encounter a ghost in person, Kyle joined DSGI in the hope of unraveling some of the mysteries associated with the paranormal. Since joining, he has experienced several situations to which he is unable to provide explanations. When asked what inspired him to join the group, his answer is, “Dr. Peter Venkman, baby!”
Dr. Melissa Hurst – Senior Investigator
As long as Melissa can remember, she has always had an interest in the paranormal/unexplained. As a child she had aspirations of investigating the paranormal and becoming a Parapsychologist. She is currently pursuing a successful career with a large pharmaceutical company. In 2014 after hearing about the intriguing investigations from her husband Kyle, Melissa joined DSGI. She participated in a few investigations with the team and was eager to become more involved. DSGI presents Melissa with the rare opportunity to both tour/investigate historic places and private residences and also to help people that may have nowhere else to turn. To this day, Melissa is still a skeptic, but is awaiting the day she is proven wrong.
Sherri – Senior Investigator
Even as a child, Sherri was interested in the world of unexplained phenomenon and parapsychology. As soon as she learned to read, her favorite haunt was the horror section of her local bookstore where she read every book about the supernatural she could. After an experience in which she believes a loved one visited her shortly after her death, Sherri’s interest in seeking answers was truly fueled, and now as an investigator with DSGI, she continues to search for truth and evidence of those no longer earthbound.
Debbie Simmons – Case Manager
Joining DSGI as an investigator in training in 2016 was a real thrill for Deborah. Since childhood, she has had a strong belief in the existence of Spirits and has had some personal experiences with the paranormal. She is excited to be part of this knowledgeable team and is looking forward to learning more about the equipment and science behind paranormal investigation. She has great interest in the investigation of historic places and private residences. DSGI gives her the perfect opportunity to gain knowledge and gather evidence.
Fred Conkey – Senior Investigator
Fred’s interest in the paranormal dates back to his childhood. His experiences have him wanting to learn more and help others with theirs. That desire to explore in a professional and ethical manner is what led him to join DSGI.
Matthew O’Neil – Website
Growing up in the “ghost hunting” era, Matt has always had a fascination with the paranormal and the unknown. After both of his parents joined Delaware Ghost Hunters, Matt assisted that group in many capacities, and has since followed in his parents’ footsteps by becoming an official investigator with DSGI in 2013. Working with DSGI has made Matt even more inquisitive than ever before about the paranormal world and the phenomena that surrounds it. Although he is one of the youngest member of the team, Matt already has 10 plus years of investigation experience and represents the next generation of paranormal investigators.
Christy Mannering – Senior Investigator
From a very young age Christy learned about the presence of spirits in her life and has always believed in a connection to the “other side.” She believes there are some people who have the ability to connect with different energies and that those energies will try to communicate with those who are willing to listen. This is why she is thrilled to be an investigator-in-training with DSGI. In addition to being fascinated by paranormal phenomena, Christy is a graduate student within the School of Public Policy and Administration at the University of Delaware. She is the chief operating officer of a local non-profit, 3B Brae’s Brown Bags and a Communications Specialist for the University of Delaware.
Adam Stinson – Senior Investigator
Adam’s passion for Paranormal developed after experiencing unexplained occurrences while visiting his grandparents as a young child. These occurrences have led Adam into researching the paranormal phenomena, as well as, helping those who are seeking answers to their own paranormal experiences
Trey Bader – Videographer
Trey inherited a fascination for the afterlife from his mom and older siblings. His paranormal journey began with the Diamond State Ghost Investigators in 2020 and now is also featured on the YouTube series, “My Haunted Manor USA” with his brother Jeff and Daryl Marston. Beyond the supernatural, Trey is an avid Philadelphia sports fan.
Jeff Bader – Videographer
Jeff is an award-winning filmmaker from Wilmington, DE. He has a passion for traveling and photographing new and interesting places. Jeff brings a documentarian mindset to the group and hopes to one day capture undeniable paranormal evidence on film. He can be seen on the YouTube series, “My Haunted Manor USA” where he, his brother Trey and Daryl Marston set up base camp at the Samuel Miller Mansion for an ongoing 24/7 investigation.
Nick Sandin – Maintenance Control Specialist
Nick joined the team after attending a Paranormal Adventure Tour at Fort Delaware in 2014. He has been fascinated by the paranormal from a young age, having had several unexplainable experiences. His career as an aircraft technician and inspector has taken him all around the country, and he seeks out haunted history wherever he goes. Nick takes a scientific approach to investigation, employing a variety of high tech equipment to help uncover the mysteries of the paranormal. His other interests include photography and auto racing.
